    To help facilitate continuous improvement of Powin’s battery energy storage system we are looking for a technically savvy and intellectually curious Hardware (HW) Test Technician. The ideal candidate for this role has extensive hands on experience in hardware and system testing/debugging and hand off to Manufacturing.

    As the HW Test Technician you will be working with HW Test Engineers to test all HW components of the battery energy storage system including: battery cell characterization; PCBA thermal/electrical/environmental testing; mechanical testing; and communication verification.

    The HW Test Technician will be an integral member of a growing Product and Engineering team that is expanding and developing at a rapid rate.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Be familiar with and ready to use as required: multi-meters; oscilloscopes; analyzers; digital analysis tools; machine tools; soldering equipment; and general hand tools.
    • Understand and work from detailed PCBA schematics, blueprints, diagrams, as well as verbal and written instructions.
    • Find bugs, identify root cause and record all pertinent information for sharing with other team members.
    • Responsible for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project.
    • Schedule testing activities for an assigned project, estimate required hours and track actual vs. estimated time, assist with and resolve scheduling problems for assigned project and determine feasibility.
    • Be able to lift 50 lbs.
    • Develop process and test recommendations for the Manufacturing QC team.
    • Responsible to perform other tasks as business needs require or as assigned by management.

    Required Skills:

    • Strong Electrical Engineering fundamentals.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with HW lab/test equipment.
    • Works independently.
    • Battery testing experience is a strong plus, but not required.

    Responsibilities:

    • Monitor and operate the system according to the operation procedure and/or market bidding awards or bilateral agreements with grid utilities to maximize availability/revenue.
    • Maintain a daily log of monitoring, operation and maintenance performed, outages, changes in operating status, inspections and any other significant events.

    Powin is currently increasing its Operations Division staff. The Field Engineer position plays a key role in Powin’s organization and is critical to operational success. The ideal Field Engineer candidate is a talented individual with a desire to explore uncharted territory and take on the challenge of building the next energy infrastructure. The candidate who will flourish in this role will be: a quick learner; comfortable with multi-tasking; and detail-oriented.     JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Track onsite system issues and work closely with the engineering and QC team to achieve resolution prior to commissioning
    • Provide technical support and onsite training to construction contractors for system installation
    • Work with PCS, meter and other equipment providers on equipment commissioning
    • Perform PE DC battery examinations/inspections, identify issues and errors, and run final commissioning
    • Work with the system operations team to fix issues or address potential issues
    • Provide system training to service contractors
    • Complete periodic system inspection and maintenance or assist service contractors with the same
    • Assist with spare parts inventory management
    • Assist with planning and managing site logistics
    • Assist with preparation and managing of operational schedules, including detailed commissioning schedules, and ensure all milestone activities take place on or ahead of schedule
    • Attend and actively participate in project meetings, including contractor and subcontractor meetings
    • Prioritize safety, lead safety meetings, analyze job hazards, and provide prompt resolution of hazards

    QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

    • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field preferred
    • Experience with creating and maintaining project schedules related to electrical construction
    • Ability to use electrical test equipment such as DMM, meggers, and multi-process calibration equipment
    • Working knowledge of and experience operating under OSHA 1910.269, NFPA 70E, and 70B
    • Ability to read electrical and/or mechanical drawings and specifications and understand terms and conditions of Project Contracts, Subcontracts, and Purchase Orders
    • Strong computer skills and experience with MS Office software (including Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, Power Point), Jira, Confluence, and other collaboration and project management tools

    Job Description

    The Powin Energy Sales Manager (SM) is a quota-carrying, direct sales role that is assigned a portfolio of customers geographically located in the West Coast for whom they must manage all current and future opportunities. Powin’s success will be determined by repeat sales, and the SM has the critical role of nurturing these relationships to produce dramatic growth of the company’s backlog. The sale of Powin products and services is a long-term sale, therefore the SM must be an exemplary relationship manager, always being mindful of the goals and aspirations of the customer.

    Responsible for co-developing the strategy and associated tactics for closing Powin sales, for the West Coast region. Responsibilities include identifying the opportunities and applications for Powin products and services. They must include basic understanding of power electronics, electrical site design, and a directional sense of cost impactors for each.

    The SM must be an effective contributor to the customer’s project team in the pre-contract phase, and remain in frequent, constructive contact with her/his point of contact throughout the project to ensure that the customer experience is best in class.

    The SM underpins all the preceding expertise by being highly organized with a strong baseline understanding of project finance and have an understanding in finance modeling, contributing to the customer’s goal of achieving a highly profitable project. Though supported by a back-office team that provides procurement, contract and technical support, the SM quarterbacks the sale and has robust leadership and internal team-building skills. The SM has a deep interest in energy market trends, energy storage and grid services economics, and startup cultures, which fuels him/her to secure successful bid responses and sales. Lastly, the SM has an extremely high standard for work product and the customer experience overall; she/he insures only top-quality work reaches her/his customer.

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Serve as the energy market expert in the West Coast Region
    • Lead efforts to identify sales targets and secure sales for Powin energy storage solutions, meeting or exceeding sales volume goals set regularly by Powin management.
    • Identify and establish relationships with key customer decision makers.
    • Leverage existing relationships of candidate with key customer decision makers.
    • Develop and implement sector, sub-sector and account strategies, based on a sophisticated understanding of customer needs, Powin’s value propositions, and competing solutions.
    • Understand at an advanced level and articulate in a clear and compelling manner complex energy challenges, energy modelling, and the business case for Powin storage solutions in a sales context.
    • Prepare professional quality sales materials including sales proposals, presentations, and responses to open procurement solicitations (e.g. RFIs, RFOs, RFPs).
    • Responsible for working within Powin’s product suite, and pricing framework to achieve profitable sales objectives.
    • Collaborate effectively with sales analysts, engineering, production, business development, marketing, and legal personnel (when applicable) to secure Powin sales in one of the most important North American energy storage markets.
    • Significant travel to engage customers and market influencers within the assigned territory.
    • Report regularly on regional customer and market activity, including detailed customer engagement efforts and market observations to contribute to Powin’s market knowledge and effective implementation of company, product and sales strategies and
    • Track changes in the energy storage policy landscape and contribute that knowledge to overall business development strategy.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

    • Direct experience and knowledge of energy markets and related industries such as renewable generation, utilities, IPP’s, and commercial/industrial/institutional energy operations, applicable regulatory frameworks, channel partners (enabling effective networking) and Powin competitors.
    • Strong working knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in sales leadership and complex technology and capital equipment solution-based sales.
    • Strong understanding of and success in business-to-business sales on corporate level and how to drive revenue and profitability while solving customer needs.

    Powin’s Product Engineering team is in need of a Java Developer. The Java Developer will be responsible for writing code, writing unit tests, and working collaboratively with Powin’s Quality Assurance team. The role is hands on, reports directly to the Head of Product Engineering, and assists with developing, refining, and advancing Powin’s battery energy storage technology for use in the next generation of the grid.
